Circumstances: The father of the children, after repeatedly saying he would marry the mother, turned out to be already a married man, and for some years now the woman has not had a penny from him. She goes out charring, but gets little money. Last week she only earned 2/6 out of which 1/6 had to go for week's rent of one room in which all four live. Boy goes regularly to school, but after school hours simply runs the street, as mother is at work. Neighbours said he was a determined little fellow and to get his own way he would sometimes "cheek" women, but not men. They also say the poor mother often does not know where her next meal is coming from. The Birminham Citizen's Committee asked if we could help.
