Tom Salisbury

  General Notes:

My father's sister Alice Maud ( who lived in Birmingham all her life) sent
my father a photo from a newspaper clipping in 1957 of his father Tom
SALISBURY fishing in a contest at Tewkesbury.

It reads:

An angler at the age of 90 is Mr. Tom SALISBURY, of St. John's Road,
Sparkhill---seen here at Regatta Meadow, Tewkesbury---was the oldest among
the 5,000 competitors. BINGO....my first clue as to who Tom was.....

I put my father's photo next to his father's and they are almost a carbon
copy of each other.

Dad did get a chance to go to Birmingham but after his father had
already been dead so never did see him. Too bad my father wasn't into
genealogy he would have found out so much more back then.

I have more on Tom SALISBURY which I can send to you if you are still
interested. A kind soul on the WARWICK list took photos of his headstone
in Brantwood End Cemetery, Birmingham and I have the newspaper information
of his death and his death certificate which names his daughter as A. M.
CASWELL as informant. On his headstone it says his wife was Maria. This is
part of the brick wall that I have run into. I am so curious as to the
whole picture of what made Tom tick.....

Above is information that has been proven but as to where Tom is born etc.
......not really known yet...I do have information that seems to fit and if
you would be interested I could send it but if not, thank you so much for

Tom married Emily Latham, daughter of George Richard Latham and Elizabeth Richardson. (Emily Latham was born on 14 Jun 1877 in Upper Sutton Street, Aston Manor, Warwickshire and died on 15 Jul 1918.)

Tom next married Maria Mawby on 19 May 1891 in Barby, Northamptonshire. (Maria Mawby was born about 1867 in Watford, Northamptonshire and died on 1 Dec 1940.)
