Job Deacon

  General Notes:

At the time of his son Thomas's birth, according to Thomas's Birth Certificate, Job Dakin was working as a Lime Quarryman and living at Barrow upon Soar with his wife Emma. In the 1881 Census he now has 3 children and is employed as a Drainer (Land Drain).

An oxhorn family heirloom is believed to have belonged to Job Deacon, it is engraved with the initials 'JD' and he is thought to have used it when employed as a gamekeeper.

• Census, 2 Apr 1871, Lovett's Yard, Church Street, Barrow Upon Soar, Leicestershire. Listed as: Age: 35; Occupation - Farm Labourer.

• Census, 3 Apr 1881, Fleckney, Leicestershire. Head of household, age 44, born Fleckney, Leics, Drainer, Agricultural Labourer (Land Drain).

• Census, 5 Apr 1891, Top End, Fleckney, Leicestershire. Listed as: Head; Age 54; Labourer.

• Census, 31 Mar 1901, Fleckney, Leicestershire. Listed as labourer, aged 64.

Job married Emma Burton, daughter of Henry Burton and Elizabeth Wakelin, on 9 Dec 1856 in Fleckney, Leicestershire. (Emma Burton was born about 1834 in Swithland, Leicestershire, christened on 16 Nov 1834 in Swithland, Leicestershire, died in 1913 in Fleckney, Leicestershire and was buried on 2 Feb 1913 in Fleckney, Leicestershire.)
