Joseph had been married before and is shown as a widower on his marriage certificate to Margaret. On the cert he says he is 29 meaning his date of birth maybe as late as 1825.

Joseph married Margaret Petch, daughter of Unknown and Anne Barron, on 3 Aug 1854 in Parish Church, Killingholme, Lincolnshire. (Margaret Petch was born about 1833 in South Killingholme, Lincolnshire and was christened on 21 Feb 1833 in Killingholme, Lincolnshire.)
