Might have found him in the 1871 census as a boarder at 85 Victoria St, Burton-on-Trent, as a brewers labourer. 1881 still in Burton-on-Trent, but married to Ann. Death reg.1884 j/a/s, age 52, Burton-on-Trent, 6b 232.
