Arthur built furniture in a workshop in Medcalf Street which was situated behind his Shop in Wharf Street Leicester.His son Jacob worked for his Father for ten shilling a week {50 pence} at the age of fourteen.Jacob used a Hand-Cart to deliver the furniture his Father had made. Arthur was once fined Half a Crown for dept and tried to commit Suicide. When Arthur moved to Leicester his first job was an Ostler.at the Rifle Bull Inn 16 New Bridge Street in 1899, Beatrice Annie Turner lived at 14 New Bridge Street Leicester.Arthur Samuel Barclay & Beatrice Annie Turner Marriage Vol 7a Page 474. Arthur married Beatrice Annie Turner, daughter of Henry Turner and Elizabeth Ann Bateman, on 21 Nov 1900 in St Andrew's, Jarrom St, Leicester, Leicestershire.
