Arthur built furniture in a workshop in Medcalf Street which was situated behind his Shop in Wharf Street Leicester.His son Jacob worked for his Father for ten shilling a week {50 pence} at the age of fourteen.Jacob used a Hand-Cart to deliver the furniture his Father had made. Arthur was once fined Half a Crown for dept and tried to commit Suicide.
