George Jamieson
(1870-1948) |
George Jamieson
General Notes: George had very little schooling, growing up on the gold fields of the West Coast of New Zealand. He looked after his father's cattle in the bush. Later with the Family he moved to Wellington where he had a milk round with milk from his own cows. He then moved to Ashurst in the Manawatu where he purchased a cow farm. Keeping on moving North he managed to buy the first block of the Ashcott Estate when it was cut up. Here he built a comfortable house for himself and his young bride and their ever growing family. The farm was named Kiwi Farm and was in the family until 2005 when it was sold. George married Elizabeth Margaret Shadbolt, daughter of Benjamin Shadbolt and Elizabeth Brown, on 22 Jul 1908 in Waipukarau, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. (Elizabeth Margaret Shadbolt was born on 8 Mar 1883 in Akaroa, Banks Penninsula, Canterbury, New Zealand and died on 14 Nov 1969 in Waipukarau, C H B, New Zealand.) |
