During the Great War he was in the 1st/4th Battalion of the East Yorkshire Regt. and was killed on April 23rd,1917 near Arras, France. He was age 26 and his service number was 201144. His grave/memorial reference is bay 4 and 5 ARRAS memorial which is in the Faubourg-d`Amiens Cemetery on the Boulevard du General de Gaulle in the western part of ARRAS.
