General Notes: Ellen was a convict transported as a 17 year old girl to New South Wales. Records show she was able to read and write and had been a childs maid and she was deaf. She had been transported for 7 years for robbing from a person. She arrived on the ship "Surrey" from England on 14 Jul 1840 and spent the most part of her sentence at the female factory at Parramatta. Ellen married John Rosier, son of James Rosier and Martha Taylor, in 1851 in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. (John Rosier was born in 1802 in Great Finborough and Combs, Suffolk and died on 19 Apr 1854 in Australia.) |
