According to his son William's Marriage Certificate, Richard was a Carpenter. Elizabeth is married to someone else (Thomas Sutton) on the 1851 census (their son William is also living with her), she remarried in 1832 so he must have died before 1832.

Richard married Elizabeth Mills, daughter of John Mills and Grace Hough, on 1 Mar 1813 in Clifton-upon-Dunsmore, Warwickshire. (Elizabeth Mills was born about 1787 in Newton, Warwickshire and was christened on 6 May 1787 in Clifton-upon-Dunsmore, Warwickshire.)
