Born Dundee, Forfarshire 1838.
First sailed in 1851 as an apprentice (supposedly born in 1836).
Sailed on S.V.Polmaise out of Glasgow on 21 Oct 1854.
S.V.Polmaise - Bark three masted sailing ship, 878 tons. Built in Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland in 1853. Lost in 1873 at what is now called Polmaise Reef, Queensland, Australia.
Died Mar Qtr 1877 - Sunderland, Vol 10a, Page 357. Aged 38.
Rated 'able seaman' when he died at sea, off Whitby, 28 Dec 1876 on the S.S.Sherburn, a coaster running coal from Sunderland to London, of 'supposed heart disease'.
